SOUNDS IN A ROOM

We are launching a new series in the SOUNDS IN A ROOM program: RE_MOTE

RE_MOTE will present the work of two musicians from different parts of the world. Each artist will independently be providing video documentation of a 15 minute improvised composition created for the series. The two videos will then be played back simultaneously, for the first time at RE_MOTE, creating a singular composition.

Artists for the first RE_MOTE on June 22 will be announced soon.

The April edition of SOUNDS IN A ROOM will focus on the new works of DROUIN/OLSEN which explore small electronic gestures framed by extended silence.

The next edition will feature the new collaboration of Daniel Godlovitch (acoustic guitar) and Lance Austin Olsen (electrified trainer guitar & electronics). The program will examine the relationship between two very different stylistic approaches to the guitar.

Our next edition of SOUNDS IN A ROOM will focus on pre-recorded sound with four remote musicians independently interpreting a score by Jamie Drouin. Their four recorded components, posted as digital files, will be played as a single one hour composition exploring notions of chance, superimposition of spaces, and divisions of silence.

Our next program features Vancouver artist Mathieu Ruhlmann (no-cartridge turntable and objects) performing with Jamie Drouin (electronics) and Lance Austin Olsen (amplified copper plates and objects). A discussion with the artists will follow the performances.
